In 2018 Veltec was awarded an EPCI contract for building of a new Vapor Recovery unit (VRU) plant for 4 quays at the Mongstad Refinery. The project had size of 200mill NOK, and Veltec was responsible for electrical, automation, mechanical and iso-disciplines, as well as coordination of the civil contract which included civil work and concrete work.
The process part of the project was module based, and it was built in Luxenburg and shipped to Mongstad for installation at site.
The project scope was to build a plant that will capture oil vapor that is displaced from the tanks in the tankers when they are filled with oil / product. The oil vapor will then be recovered and returned to the product stream that goes to the ship.
We built a new substation of approx. 80m2, which contains transformers, electrical panels, control cabinets, HVAC system, fire alarm system etc. Furthermore, Veltec was responsible for mechanical installation, new pipelines structure installations as well as supply of high voltage to the substation, and further installation for pumps, control valves, PSW`s etc. The instrumentation system included measurements of temperature, pressure, flow, level etc. We have also installed fire and gas systems in the plant, new control cabinets, cabling, gas detectors, sirens, lights, detectors etc. We have received good feedback from our customer.
